The appointment was a Tech Appointment for 10:30am EST. We arrived at 10:25 and were placed in a waiting room. At 11am we had still not been. I went to the front desk and inquired about the wait time and shortly after that the tech came to get Hoosier to take his blood pressure and urinalysis screen. The reason for the appointment was to recheck his blood pressure and urinalysis because of results they got during his check-in appointment in October. Hoosier is on insulin twice a day and when I went to refill his insulin the previous week I was told he couldn’t have a refill until he was seen again so we made the appointment for that Friday. After Hoosier was seen I asked for his insulin refills and was first told it could not be refilled until they got his results back but I explained he needs a new vial every 11 days so she returned with a paper script for One vial and 0 refills. I asked to speak with the vet because that is unacceptable. Once the vet spoke with me she agreed to give him 3 refills. I don’t agree with this process as no matter the results Hoosier will need insulin no matter what. Not giving him refills only runs him at risk of running out of a medication he has to have to live. Nothing on his urinalysis will change the fact that he must have insulin. Hoosier is current on his shots and his yearly check-ins. We were seen and then had to pay for services he had just had done in October. In questioned why we were being charged $180 for a tech visit and was told it was because they took his blood pressure and urinalysis, which I had JUST paid for in October. At this point we had been in this small room for over two hours and Hoosier was growing increasingly anxious. I decided to pay the $180 and leave with the script with 3 refills. I have decided to leave Noah’s Brandywine in Greenfield and asked for his file to be transferred to the Stop 11 location. I’m very upset with the latest treatment and mismanagement of Hoosier and his necessary medication. I also am already almost out of insulin and because of the Holiday we will not receive his chewy shipment by the time he needs another vial. I will be calling the office today about buying another vial from them. Had they refilled his prescription when I asked this would not be an issue. I plan to escalate my issue to the vet on staff at both Greenfield and Stop 11.

I really appreciated that Dr. Hedges took time to explain things to me and give me advice about how to move my very anxious kitty to New York. I feel a lot more confident going into this move. We will miss Noah’s Brandywine!
