Dr. Tuero and her assistant were very thorough and explained everything in detail. Excellent service in once in the office. We would like to have been able to get an earlier appointment as the primary reason for the visit was treatment of a wound.

I have concluded that there is no point in precisely articulating what I found disappointing/disturbing about my last visit to CVS on Friday May 24. However, I can say with certainty that Dr. Echols was wholly responsible for my decision to take my animals elsewhere for treatment in the future. In contrast to Dr. Ottosen, who treated my senior cat Opie the week before, she was IMPATIENT (i.e., interrupting my answers to her questions when I was giving what she must have considered TMI), INSENSITIVE when suggesting bladder cancer as a possible cause of blood in Chelsea’s urine and ANNOYED when I disagreed with her prognosis. I have been a responsible pet-owner for over 40 years, taking my animals for annual vaccinations and treatment as needed, without regard to cost. In the last 4 years, where I have lived in VT, NC and OR, I have become aware of a disturbing trend in veterinary care: excessive administration/cost of diagnostics/prescriptions. Since this trend is nationwide, the AVMA & vet schools must be encouraging it. This is counterproductive to universal animal welfare - discouraging average pet-owners from seeking preventative, much less curative, treatment. Thereby, forcing the burden of maintaining clinics’ profitability on those of us who are willing - though not necessarily “able” - to pay.

When a pet owner says they understand something and they don’t want it the vet should not make the owner feel like they are a bad pet parent. There are beliefs and if a pet is happy healthy and doing what they should they shouldn’t be made to feel bad if they choose a different course of action.

The staff and doctor provided excellent care, but the cost of care was really much more than I anticipated. I was disappointed in the prices for meds, I was charged $60 for a med that is available on Chewy for $35. I don’t mind paying a little extra for the convenience, but that mark up is hard to accept.
